NDMC hosted an invited talk series by Prof. Kaja Abbas on “Vaccine value assessment”
Prof. Kaja Abbas is an Associate Professor at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and Nagasaki University. His research focus is vaccine impact modelling with a focus on estimating the health, economic, and equity impact of vaccination programmes to support evidence-based decision-making on vaccination strategies in collaboration with partners and stakeholders at the global, regional, and national levels.
Abstract
Vaccine value can be assessed from multiple perspectives, including health benefits, safety, economic impact, equity, acceptance, feasibility, antimicrobial resistance, and broader socio-economic benefits. In the first half, I will present specific case studies in the context of HPV, chikungunya, typhoid and Nipah vaccines, and antimicrobial resistance. In the second half, we will discuss related research and education opportunities for potential collaborations with NDMC.
