Project Research Scientist III

Job Profile:

The selected candidate will contribute to one or more the following areas:

  • Analyze disease surveillance data to inform prevention and control strategies.
  • Estimate disease burden and its contributing factors using advanced statistical techniques and large-scale datasets.
  • Develop and apply mathematical and statistical models to understand infectious disease dynamics.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to design and evaluate public health interventions.
  • Support evidence-based decision-making through analysis of epidemiological and demographic data.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of open-source tools for disease modeling and burden estimation.
  • Analyze cost data from varied sources, including but not limited to administrative, existing literature, and clinical trials.
  • Model healthcare costs and expenditures using econometric and statistical models.
  • Decision modelling involving the construction and analysis of decision trees, and designing Markov models.
  • Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at national and international conferences.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Epidemiologist

Job Profile:
  • Conduct analytical research to support NDMC researchers in developing statistical models for infectious diseases to be utilized for prediction/forecasting of disease burdens.
  • Lead and support in conducting systematic reviews and meta-analysis with respect to disease related parameters to be used for the modelling works by the centre.
  • Provide insights & updates from the national & subnational public health and disease elimination/control programmes as well as relevant national health programmes of the country.
  • Help in translating programmatic data and available disease related secondary data into qualitative insights and aid further converting the same into modelling parameters.
  • Contribute to drafting manuscripts and other knowledge/dissemination products including presentations, policy briefs, scientific publications etc.
  • Any other related tasks assigned by the NDMC PIs.

Scientific Writer

Job Profile:
  • Support IITB faculty and researchers in their scientific communication requirements.
  • Clearly communicate scientific results in a condensed, non-technical, jargon free language that is understandable to non-specialist audiences and decision-makers.
  • Develop and understanding of disease areas in focus.
  • Demonstrate the flexibility necessary to function across different disease areas.
  • Write original content for publication activities (primary manuscript, abstracts, posters) slide presentations and other materials based on research content provided by IITB faculty.
  • Provide graphics support.
  • Prepare newsletters communicating research updates as needed.
  • Participate in meetings with healthcare system stakeholders.
