Conduct analytical research to support NDMC researchers in developing statistical models for the transmission of infectious diseases for prediction/forecasting of disease burdens under different
interventions.
Lead systematic reviews with meta-analysis on disease related parameters.
Provide insights & updates from the national & subnational public health and disease elimination
programmes.
Help in translating programmatic data and asks into modelling parameters.
Contribute to drafting manuscripts and other knowledge products including presentations, policy
briefs etc.
The RA will be required to develop mathematical/statistical models for the transmission of infectious diseases. These models will be used for prediction/forecasting of disease burdens under different interventions
Prior knowledge of differential equations will be desirable
Knowledge of Statistical tools like, probability, regression, multivariate analysis, variable selection, spatial and time series analysis etc will be desirable
The RAs should be able to program in C++/Python/R/Matlab
The project manager will be responsible for interfacing with PIs and RAs from various backgrounds
Require experience in the mathematical modelling of infectious diseases, in particular with compartmental/metapopulation models, and with proficient knowledge of a computer programming language, such as R, MATLAB or Python. These models will be used for prediction/forecasting of disease burdens under different interventions. The project manager should facilitate data mining for structural/functional trends across diseases, treatments, geographical and temporal variations
Disease modelling will very often require the use of computing using
multiple cores/CPUs
distributed systems or clusters and
GPUs. So expertise in the use of distributed computing at one or more of different levels of granularity using appropriate paradigms such as MPI (for multi-core), CUDA Programming (for GPUs) and Map-Reduce (for distributed systems) is highly desirable.
The project manager will also be responsible for maintaining and managing the health data repositories while ensuring both privacy and security. Care should be taken to ensure that the data made available for analysis has no information that could be used to identify an individual (i.e., is de-identified). Further, the project manager should be capable of de-identifying the data suitably as and when required. Also, the project manager should preferably have some exposure to federated data management
To ensure data safety, the project manager should be familiar with data storage virtualization technologies (such as RAID) at least at the software level. The project manager will be working on protecting health data and fixing glitches that may slow down the exchange of data or corrupt its accuracy
Clear communication of modelling results as reports to various agencies. Help in paper writing. Knowledge of Word and Latex required.
